Scope Cerakote FAQs

Will the color match my rifle?

Picture
Yep, sure will. We use the same durable H-Series Cerakote as your manufacturer. As Certified Cerakote applicators, we mix colors the same way the factory does—by weight, calculating the perfect ratio for each color by specific density. This provides a perfect, or nearly perfect, match to most rifles on the market today within the tolerance limits of the equipment used on both sides.

We do need to be able to identify the color used by the manufacturer. We have color information from Browning, Weatherby, Ruger, and Christensen Arms to name a few. Daniel Defense sometimes uses proprietary colors not available to others—contact us if you wish to match one of theirs; we're working on it.

What brands/types of optics can you Cerakote?

Mmmm, pretty much all of them. Scopes, red dots, range finders, spotting scopes—you name it. We've done Leupold, Zeiss, Kahles, Swarovski, Steiner, Nightforce, Sig Sauer, Vortex, Nikon and Burris to name a few. As noted elsewhere, there are often areas which cannot be coated such as rubberized eyepieces—we simply tape these off and leave them au naturale.  Check our instagram feed for pics of various types @gibbsguns.

Is the finish guaranteed?

We guarantee our work. Forever. We test each piece before it leaves, and if problems develop for any reason, we will re-do it at our own expense including shipping. Understand that while H-Series Cerakote will hold up to hard use, it is not magic. You will see wear over time in the same places that you would see wear on any finish, and sharp edges or hard impacts may damage it.

Will it change the function of my optic in any way?

Nope, not at all.

Will it void the manufacturer's warranty?

Obviously, we are not your manufacturer and cannot speak for them. However, every one we have spoken to including Leupold, Sig Sauer, and Vortex has told us that as long as a problem is not a direct result of the Cerakote process (spray on the lens, for example) it does not affect the warranty. If you have concerns, please contact your manufacturer directly.

How do I care for my Cerakoted optic?

The same way you did before it was Cerakoted. It requires no special care. The finish can be cleaned and refreshed by wiping down along with your gun during cleaning. We like good old Hoppes No. 9 for this.

We've tried to cover the most common questions here. If you have others, feel free to ask! For quickest response, shoot us an email.service@gibbsgun.com
