Different versions of the bills have passed both Illinois House & Senate. Once reconciled to agree (highly likely) the bill will go the Governor for signature and become EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. BANNED ITEM DEFINITIONS "CHEAT SHEET"RIFLES
Possession: FELONY Any semi auto center fire rifle that can accept a detachable magazine (regardless of capacity) and 1 of the following • Folding / Telescoping Stock • Pistol Grip / Thumbhole stock or similar • Forward pistol grip • Flash hider / threaded barrel • Grenade launcher / flare launcher Also any semi auto center fire rifle as described below • Any semi auto center fire rifle with overall length less than 30 inches. • Any semi auto center fire rifle with a fixed mag that can hold more than 10 rounds PISTOLS Posession: FELONY Any semi auto center fire pistol that can accept a detachable magazine (regardless of capacity) and 1 of the following • Accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip • Has a shroud that encircles the barrel (partially or completely) • Threaded barrel • Second pistol grip Also any semi auto center fire pistol as described below • Any semi auto center fire with a fixed mag that can accept more than 10 rounds. SHOTGUNS Possession: FELONY Any semi auto center fire shotgun that has both of the following attributes. • Folding / Telescoping Stock • Pistol Grip / Thumbhole stock or similar Also any semi auto shotgun as described below • Any semi auto that can accept a detachable magazine • Any semi auto that has a revolving cylinder • Any semi auto with a fixed mag that can accept more than 10 rounds MAGAZINES Possession: (1) Misdemeanor; (2 or more) FELONY Transfer: FELONY Regardless of relevance to any of the potentially banned items and regardless of caliber… ANY Magazines that can hold or be readily converted to hold more than 10 rounds. 50 BMG Rifle: FELONY Ammo: Misdemeanor Any rifle chambered in .50 BMG & any .50 BMG cartridges ASSAULT WEAPON ATTACHMENT Possession: FELONY Any device capable of being attached to a firearm designed for making or converting it into any of the banned firearms listed. (Example: you have a pump shotgun with an adjustable stock and integral rail that is not prohibited, but also have a detachable pistol grip laying around in a drawer, you will be guilty of a felony.)
